How To Use

Route ScouterTM is simple to use.

Step 1: Create an account and set your alert preferences.  To do that go to "Edit Profile" and "Alert Options."  Check which format of alert you wish to receive (text or email); enter the time you no longer wish to receive alerts and what time you want them to resume; and finally check the locations and alert types that you want to get.  If you have not received an alert in the next couple of days please log back on and double check your settings.

Step 2: Enter the Route ScouterTM Hotline, 515-369-9934, as a speed dial on your  phone.  Alerts may also be submitted online after logging in or via email at alert@routescouter.com.  The more alerts called in by users the more effective the service becomes.

Step 3: Begin scouting, sending and receiving alerts as they are discovered.  If you are receiving too many alerts, you can always narrow your alert preferences.  If you no longer wish to receive alerts, log back on and check the applicable box under your alert profile.

Step 4: Modify your travel plans accordingly.

Step 5: Share Route ScouterTM with a friend or 10.

When submitting an alert via the alert hotline, keep it short, direct, and to the point.  It should be as simple as this:

Operator:  Route ScouterTM Alert Hotline what is your alert?

Caller:  Speed Trap, I-235 eastbound, 73rd street exit.

Operator:  Your user name please?

Caller:  JohnDoe

Operator:  Thank you for scouting your route.

If you are having problems receiving or submitting alerts or have suggestions on how to improve the service, email us at info@routescouter.com.

Route ScouterTM is a convenient service designed to keep motorists informed.  Smart phones and texting capabilities make it tempting to access and use Route ScouterTM while driving.  DONT!  Texting and driving is dangerous and will soon be illegal in almost every State.  If you observe an alert CALL it into the hotline as opposed to attempting to text or email while driving.  If you have a passenger, feel free to have them text, email or even call in the alert.  Your attention should be on the road while driving not on your phone.  Check Route ScouterTM before leaving the house or office and don’t hesitate to wait to send in an alert until you are safely at your destination or at a place where the alert can be safely sent.  Don’t become an alert yourself.
